What is the difference between a spot and a stain and can I clean them myself?

Spots are substances like mud, grease and beverage spills that haven’t had a chance to set in and adhere to the carpeting. These are on the surface of the carpeting, so if you catch them quickly, yes you can clean these on your own. The best way to clean a spot is to first blot the spot with a dry, white towel. Do not rub the spot, as this will only ingrain the substance further and deeper into the carpeting. For repetitive and future use, it is best and more effective to use a spray bottle for this solution. First, you will want to pour in a ¼ cup of vinegar, then 1 tablespoon of dish soap (such as Dawn, Palmolive, Ivory, etc.) and fill the rest of the water bottle with water. Spray this on the blotted spot and let it soak for about 5-10 minutes, then blot the spot again with a dry, white towel. As for stains, the reason they differ from spots is because they have had time to set in. In order to fully lift the stain from the base of the carpeting, your best option is to give us a call and we will carefully and safely take care of the stain for you so its chances of reappearing due to improper cleaning will lessen greatly.

Is it really necessary to have my furniture cleaned professionally?

Yes. Your furniture receives as much use and traffic as your rugs and carpeting does. These upholstered items can become stained as easily as your carpeting and as such, it is just as important to have these spots and stains removed. Pets bring in particles, dander and allergens from outside that will settle onto your couch or armchair, leaving behind dirt and grit that will settle into the fibers and seams. Unbeknownst to you and your family members, you will constantly bring in a flow of bacteria, oils, dust mites and particles that will then settle in your upholstered items. These all will cause harm to your furniture and upholstered pieces that can actually ruin them. It all culminates in a worn down, used, stained and dirty piece of furniture that most likely will leave you wishing you could afford to buy and replace this item. Instead, call our company and we will revive your tired sofas, loveseats, mattresses and armchairs. Thanks to our upholstering cleaning services, you won’t have to afford that hefty expense. It is far more cost-effective to have your furniture in your home cleaned and taken care of rather than purchasing brand new items. We will revitalize your fabrics by gently cleaning them and leaving them looking fresh and clean!

Will frequent vacuuming decrease the need for a professional cleaning?

Not necessarily. Vacuuming is of course recommended, on a daily basis, to be sure that you pick up any spills, grit and dirt that settle on top of your carpeting. But vacuums will never reach down to the level of deep cleaning that our professional technicians reach while cleaning your carpeting. The reason steam cleaning your carpeting is necessary is thanks to the mixture of the water and the cleaning solution. The water reaches down to the padding underneath the carpeting, breaking up the built in soils and particles while cleaning the fibers and cushion at the same time. The water is then extracted with force out of the carpeting, leaving it free of the soils and particles that harm your carpeting. A vacuum cleaner can’t reach these particles at the base of the fibers. But, it can reach the debris on the top of your carpeting, so it will remove the visible mess on your carpeting which is definitely best to be rid of so it is not tracked all throughout your home. Also, this grit and dirt will settle down at the base of the fibers on top of all the other soils already there that can’t be reached, which will only make cleaning your carpeting even more regularly than recommended a necessity.

Someone told me to wait as long as possible to get my carpets cleaned, is this true?

We recommend that you have your carpeting cleaned professionally at least every 12 to 24 months. This will assure that any unseen dirt and particles that your vacuum cleaner misses will be taken care of. Also, any spot cleaning you have performed on your rug will miss the deep, set in moisture from spills. This can cause spores, bacteria and other microorganisms to grow and multiply in your carpeting which can lead to harmful conditions for you and your family’s health. It will also rid your home of allergens that can irritate allergies. This means improved air quality that you and your family breathe. Also, if you own pets, urine from your animals deteriorates your carpeting the longer it sits and also causes bacteria to grow quickly, as the main thing in urine is bacteria. Another reason to stay on top of your carpet cleaning needs is because the daily traffic in your home really wears down on the carpeting fibers. Think of a deep carpet cleaning as a spa day for your carpeting. It revitalizes the fibers, which makes that worn down look instantly disappear. This means your carpeting will have a longer lifetime, which keeps money in your pocket by not having to replace the carpeting and rugs in your home sooner than necessary.

Can’t I just clean my carpets myself?

We do not recommend homeowner’s to clean their carpeting alone. The reason for this is because only a trained technician can handle your carpeting, rugs and upholstery properly and safely. Many people wishing to save money will run to their local store and purchase a shampooer and attempt to clean their carpeting themselves. What they don’t know is that these cleaners can really harm the fibers in their items. They are not the professional quality that companies such as ours carry that safely clean your carpets. Also, these store bought shampooers tend to leave residue behind. This residue on your carpeting attracts more dirt, mud, grime and particles and actually adheres to the residue. This means you will end up having to prematurely clean your carpeting again. Premature and constant cleaning to carpeting can destroy the padding underneath and the fibers themselves. Not only will you need constant cleaning, but most carpet cleaners at stores will not lift stains. Only an experienced technician with correct equipment will thoroughly remove spots and stains. If you want to be sure that your carpeting has been thoroughly cleaned the right way, call our company to have a professional technician come out and take care of all your carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning needs!

Why is professional carpet cleaning important?

Professional carpet cleaning is the only way to be sure that your home is cleaned to perfection. Our company has been in business for years, providing our customers with quality cleaning that lasts. One of the main reasons you should call a professional to take care of your carpeting is because professionals have the top of the line equipment and professional grade cleaners that you can’t buy at a store. This means that your carpeting will receive that utmost care from our trained technicians that will assure you that your carpets will be thoroughly cleaned and stay clean longer. Plus, purchasing home cleaning shampooers from the store can actually harden the fibers in your rugs and carpeting. Only professional companies have access to the high quality cleaners that we use to safely and effectively rid your carpeting of soils and particles. Not only is professional carpet cleaning important for the lifetime of your carpeting and rugs, it also helps rid your carpeting from the worn down look due to the constant flow of traffic in your home. It leaves your carpeting looking as fresh as the day it was installed. Also, the equipment you would need to purchase in order to steam clean your carpeting can cost a hefty amount.

Is it true that water actually harms carpets, which in turn means more cleaning needed more often?

Absolutely not. Water is harmless when it comes to carpet cleaning. In fact, it’s necessary when cleaning any object. The issue that could come up is the quality of the service you are receiving. This usually happens if someone cleans your carpeting that uses poor machinery or if the technician him/herself isn’t trained enough to be aware of this issue. Our technician’s equipment is top of the line quality, which means that more dirt, grime, bacteria and built-up particles will be dealt with the first time around. The equipment, if used correctly, will suck up the majority of the water from the fibers which will rid your carpeting, rugs, and upholstery of the soils. If the water isn’t properly taken care of, it can sit and actually cause water damage to the items in your home. Yes, your fabric or carpeting will be damp after a cleaning, but it should never be so damp that it can cause water damage to your home. The normal amount of time it takes for your carpeting to dry is 12 to 24 hours. If your carpeting is still extremely wet after this time, it means the technician from the company you hired preformed their job incorrectly. Our company has never once come across this issue during our years of providing carpet cleaning services.

Is it true that your carpet gets dirty quicker if you have it cleaned?

Not in our company it doesn’t! Sometimes whole spots of stains can reappear with time. But why does this happen? This occurs because of something we call “wicking”. The stain caused by pet urine, beverages and any other large spills sets into the backing and that foamy pad that lies underneath your carpeting. When a cleaning is performed, the process uses water and chemicals to lift the stain. So the stain is instantly lifted from the fibers themselves. Then, later on once the carpeting dries, homeowner’s will notice the stain magically reappearing thanks to the moisture in the carpeting bringing the stain back to the surface from the cushion underneath. Our technicians are trained to clean deeper and more thoroughly to avoid this problem. Another reason why some people experience this issue is because sometimes there is residue left over from inferior cleaning products. This is called re-soiling. This left over residue can come from just the cleaner or even the stain itself, or both. We usually see this as a result of store bought cleaners or unqualified technicians from other companies using poor quality cleaners themselves. Our company employs only the best and most trained in our field and our cleaners are top of the line, so you can be assured this issue will not occur in your home.

If I call for a quote, can the price change later?

A. When you call in and receive an estimate from our staff, it is based on what we speak to you about over the phone. The quote we give you is an initial standard rate that we provide all customers that call in to our company for our expert carpet, rug, and upholstery cleaning and water damage services. We can’t know for sure the extent of what services will need to be performed until our technician is on-site and can assess any damage or severe staining that needs special care and attention. There are many factors that come into play when we decide on how much to charge for our cleaning services. Set-in, difficult stains take special cleaning services, for example. Another example is our water damage service. This service really depends on how much water you take and where in your household this water is located, it can cost less or more. There may be extra charges due to these unforeseen circumstances. But you will be notified before the cleaning process starts in case you wish to decline our services. In other words, there will be no hidden fees or surprises once you receive your bill for the services we have rendered.

Is there a way to completely get rid of pet stains?

Pet stains are some of the hardest stains to treat on upholstered items, carpets and rugs. The reason being is because urine from your pet contains different chemicals than a human being. Pet urine contains more bacteria, acid, sodium chloride, and urine salts. The bacteria in the urine stain will continue to grow and grow if not treated quickly and properly. Too much built up urine stains can lead to health issues as well as all the carpeting, rugs, and upholstered items in your homes needing to be replaced which too costly and unnecessary. Not only is the urine a factor in your health, but it also factors into the life of your items. The moisture weakens layers in the fabrics and fibers which can cause to rips, separation along seams and can cause you to prematurely replace your items. Also, urine from your pets can also affect the dyes, causing permanent stain, meaning we can’t guarantee those stains will lift completely because it is dependent upon how long the stains have been there. But our technicians are equipped with the best, strongest and safest chemicals on the market that will lift even the toughest of stains, and be assured we will not leave until you are satisfied.
